Nothing beats a craving for burgers like a homemade Bacon Cheese Burger! Tonight, I made homemade buns and organic ground beef patties to fix my family's cravings! It was so delicious!

Bacon Cheese Burger Homemade

{Making The Buns}

  • 1 1/4 cup or 300ml water

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 1/2 tsp salt

  • 2 tsp sugar

  • 1 tbsp instant yeast/bread machine yeast

  • 3 cups of AP or bread flour

  • 1 tbsp melted butter

  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional)

  1. Add flour to mixing bowl. Then the yeast, sugar and salt on top but spaced out without touching one another.

  2. Whisk the dry mixture to incorporate the ingredients. Add water and oil. Add a little water at a time until the dough just comes together. If the dough is too dry add a teaspoon of water at a time. If dough is too wet, add in a tablespoon of flour at a time. Once dough comes together and the bowl is pretty clean remove onto a clean surface.

  3. Knead dough by grabbing the front and folding into the middle. While folding the dough to the center, turn the dough each time before folding the edge in. Do this repeatedly for 15-minutes straight. We are building gluten structures for our bread so that it doesn't deflate and become dense and hard. Gluten helps create structure, airiness and chewiness for our bread.

  4. Oil the mixing bowl and place the dough back in. Secure with plastic wrap and cover with a towel. Place in a warm place and allow to rise until it doubles or triples in size. On a warm day it will take 45-60 minutes. On colder days, place bowl into the oven and add a hot water bath. Let rise for 1-1.5 hours

  5. Gently peel away from edge of bowl and pour onto a flat work surface. Don't knead or anything. Just keep it as round as possible. Divide the dough evenly into 8 wedges like scones or pizza slices. Take each piece and roll into a ball pulling the top skin to the bottom. Twist and seal into clean ball like shapes.

  6. Place evenly apart on a baking sheet. Put back into the oven along with a fresh hot water bath. Let rise for 1-1.5 hours or until it triples in size.

  7. Once it's triples in size, remove dough from the oven and the water bath. Preheat over to 375°F. Brush melted butter to the tops of dough and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.

  8. Bake for 14-16 minutes till golden brown. All to cool completely before cutting in half.

{Making The Beef Patties}

  • 2 lbs organic ground beef

  • 1/2 an onion chopped

  • 4 garlic cloves minced

  • 4 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  1. Chop onion and mince garlic cloves. Add into a pan along with olive oil on medium heat. Sauté for 6-8 minutes until soften. Allow to cool completely.

  2. Add ground beef, cooled onion, garlic, salt, garlic powder and black pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.

  3. Shape into a round ball. Flatten the ball and divide into 6 or 8 patties. (I make 6 giant decent size patties out of this. Approximately 5-6 inches in diameter.)

  4. Grill on gas or charcoal grill with a temperature of 375°F any where from 3-5 minutes per side. Cook time varies depending on how chunky the patties are.)

{Additional Condiments}

  • Sliced tomatoes

  • Sliced onions

  • Pickles

  • Ketchup

  • Mayo

  • Cooked Bacon Strips

  • Cheese

  • Lettuce or mix spring greens
